Bring It Together: Creating a 90s-Inspired Campaign for Cleo Cowdrey

Created a distinctive campaign identity for someone running for city council.

As a creative agency passionate about amplifying the stories of local communities, we were thrilled to take on a new challenge - helping Cleo Cowdrey campaign for city council in Nelson.

The Process

Starting from scratch, our creative agency took on the challenge of crafting a campaign for Cleo Cowdrey, a young woman running for city councillor in Nelson. Our goal was to create a campaign that spoke to everyday people, engaging non-voters and encouraging the community to work together to make a better Nelson. We focused on appealing to young adults, families, and CBD workers. Cleo wanted a nostalgic feel that reflected her fond childhood memories of Nelson in the 90s.

We started by creating a verbal identity that captured Cleo's vision for the campaign. The tagline "Bring it, Together" and the key phrase "Our community runs at its best when we bring it, together" conveyed the message of inclusivity and working towards a common goal. We crafted key statements such as "Bridging the Gap," "Sensible Spending," "A Thriving Economy," and "A City for All" to communicate Cleo's values and goals for the community.

Next, we moved onto the visual identity. Our team produced a modern 90s nostalgia look that demanded attention. We used minimalist flat iconic designs with pink, blue, and yellow 90s colours to create a campaign that was both punchy and memorable. We created billboards, flyers, website design, pin badges, and t-shirts that showcased the visual identity in a versatile and scalable way.

The Result

Through close collaboration with Cleo, we were able to create a powerful identity that accurately captured her vision for the campaign. The campaign appealed to the everyday people of Nelson, engaging non-voters and promoting a sense of community. The verbal and visual identity worked together seamlessly, conveying Cleo's values and message in a clear and impactful way.

The End

It was a pleasure to work with Cleo Cowdrey to create a campaign that was not only visually stunning but also resonated with the people of Nelson, resulting in a successful city council run. We were thrilled to be a part of this exciting project and to have contributed to Cleo's vision for a better Nelson. Our creative agency looks forward to working on future projects with Cleo and continuing to help her make a positive impact on the community.
